Baby Bloomer Outfits

One of my favorite Summer looks of all times, is a sweet little baby in a pair of bloomers.  I purchased a few pairs for Silas for this Summer and I can't wait to see his chunky thighs in them.  I also purchased some for Everly, because it will be her last year that she will be able to fit into them, as most of them only go up to a 2yr.  So you can bet your bottoms that I will be squeezing her little tush into them this Summer!

This look is so simple and perfect for those hot humid Summer days.  I don't know about your babies, but my babies sweat like crazy in the Summer heat, so less is best around here.  (As long as you lather them in suntan lotion of course!)  There are so many options for styles, you can go everyday wear or even get pretty dressy with it for nicer occasions.  I know I will be having loads of fun styling our baby bloomers this Summer and here are some of the ways I will be styling them...

I hope everyone has a lovely Tuesday!  xox

Featuring >> Mawdsley Loves

Bonnie contacted us about a collaboration with her a few months back and sent over a couple images with some samples of the Spring items she was creating. We fell in love with her sweet moccasins, and new tees so we decided that it would be a good match for us.

Bonnie is a very sweet and dedicated mama. She created this brand because of the love she has for her son and finding functional and fashionable accessories for him. She creates them all by hand making sure each item is nothing less than perfect for her own son, before she sends out.

I love this excerpt from her website:

Mawdsley [mods-lee] noun -
name of Anglo-saxon origin
name of the place where my hubby and I first met
middle name of my first born
Loves [luhvs] verb - a feeling of warm personal attachment or deep affection towards a person, place or thing
ALL THINGS that my Mawdsley Loves

MawdsleyLoves [mods-lee-luhvs] noun

Bonnie is a sweet lady who loves children's fashion. It was a pleasure to work with her, and look forward to a giveaway with something from Mawdsley Loves coming in the future.

So, needless to say, once we got our items in the mail we both got excited to let the kids wear them this Spring.

We waited for the perfect evening to wear ours out. We even included one of the bibs that we received on Scarlett's doll. Scarlett loved it on her!

"Scarlett, do you love your shoes?!?"
(pretty sure this means yes!)

Mama >> OOTD

God knows when I need a little help hitting the brake pedal.  I feel like I can be in the fast lane day in and day out, and even though there are seasons that don't give me a break, it's good to be reminded that there is a slow lane.  Sometimes I need that extra push or that gentle reminder from God to scoot over and just step on the brake.  When He slows my life down, it's normally to a pace I'm not used to.  Oh, but it's good.  It's good to slow down and just be still.

In these moments, when I can breathe and catch up, I am reminded of the simple things that make my heart feel most full and alive.  When I get caught up in the mundane of the every day, I miss out on so much that's good.  Like the sound that their tiny toes make when they pitter patter around the house.  Or the sweet tone in their laughter.  I don't want to miss out on these things.  I don't want to miss out on getting "into" their lives and dreams.  I don't want to miss out on telling Everly that she is the best cook, the best doctor, the best hair dresser, the best artist - I want to encourage her and play with her and simply be there and be still with her.

I don't want to miss the smell, oh that sweet sweet smell of my little boys skin.  Or the way his eyes twinkle and shine when he smiles.  The way his golden blonde hair glistens in the sunlight.  I want to remember these moments, not just let them pass me by.  I want to remember and cherish in the moments when Silas holds me close - when I hold him close.  I want to slow my mind down and get off the to-do list, and just be still with him.

Be still.  Psalm 46:10

FEATURING >> Half Pint Shop+GIVEAWAY

We have had the absolute pleasure of working with Macaire from Half Pint Shop. I love it when I come across shops with strong, confident women running them. I'm sure you know by now, but here at Urban Cub we love to support small businesses.

Here is a little bit about Macaire, and the shop.

We also got some amazing little shadow puppets from her and we have enjoyed playing with them (on multiple occasions) and having them displayed around the house.

I’m Macaire, owner of Half Pint Shop, and my husband and I live in Chicago where we’re raising our son Eyan.

I’ve always had a love for clothing but I never knew I’d fall head over flats (Heels? Yeah right!) in love with children’s fashion. After my son Eyan was born I started to search for playful, stylish and cool, quality clothing for my son that you didn’t see every day on the playground. Most of the clothing and toys I bought for my son ended up being purchased from smaller, unique businesses instead of big retail stores.

My shopping addiction is where the idea for Half Pint Shop began. Half Pint Shop will only carry my favorite brands and fashionable, comfortable clothing that I’d dress my own child in. If its organic the better. All of the accessories, toys and nursery décor we carry are items we would use and decorate with in our own household. Many of the brands we find are made right here in our hometown of Chicago, either referred to us by friends or discovered at handmade craft shows. I hope to help parents discover some fun and trendy smaller brands while also stocking the more popular brands from around the world.

Before I had my son Eyan (born September 2011) I worked in social media/marketing. I've always wanted to be a small business owner though. After college (where I majored in Journalism) I even went to Floral Design school because I had a fantasy of owning my own floral shop one day. I may have not had a focus until my son was born but I think I've finally found something that I truly enjoy doing, that allows me the balance to stay-at-home with my son (and soon to be baby #2!)

Go check out her shop for some awesome stuff!

These are some of our favorites from the shop

There is a giveaway happening over on Instagram, and it is a good one!

Featuring >> DJ's Handsies

DJ's Handsies ||shop|| ||instagram|| ||facebook||

When Everly was about 8 months old I was in search of a Crocheted pixie hat, so of course I let all my Instagram friends know.  And because I have the best Instagram friends in the world, they were quick to share with me where I could purchase one.  A friend of mine, tagged Danette from DJ's Handsies and I instantly fell in love with her work.  At the time she was currently only making items for family and friends and I got the ultimate pleasure of being her very first CUSTOMER!  Danette was very on top of her game and was super amazing to work with.  She asked me all the details of what I wanted and before I knew it, I got the hat of my dreams for Everly and it kept her little head warm all winter long!  (She was so adorable in it, and we got compliments on the hat all the time!)

Going back and forth with the details and specifics of what I wanted for the hat I formed a very sweet friendship with Danette and I am lucky to know this lovely mama!  I have been following her Instagram and following her work for a little over a year now and it has been such a joy to watch her business flourish!  Danette seriously makes some of the most beautiful work I've ever seen!

Recently I had a special request of Danette.  I was dying to get my hands on one of her Crotchet animal faces, but wanted to do something a little different than a dress.  I am in love with rompers (it's a little obsession of mine!) so I asked Danette if she could make a romper for Everly.  I also had not seen a cub or bear in her selection yet and because we are Urban CUB, I obviously needed a cub.  ;)  I am so happy with the completed outfit!!!

Seriously...  I'm dying!!!

Danette is always making custom orders for her customer's and I am over the moon with this romper and cub face!  Isn't it amazing?

If you are not following Danette's work on Instagram, you definitely should be.  You never know what she's going to come up with next and you don't want to miss it!  Word on the street is that these rompers, will be available for purchase at some point today!  Yay!  Use discount code, "djscubs" for 15% off all rompers and dresses.

Thank you again Danette, for this beautiful romper!  You never cease to amaze me with your insane skills and gorgeous work!
