Ace & Jig >> Fall/Winter 2014

I'm always excited for some new Ace&Jig and this new collection doesn't disappoint!  I'm totally digging the colors and I've been eyeing up a lot of the red and white pieces for myself!  I got a little sneak peek at the kids collection and cannot wait to show you some of that as well!  It's all pretty spectacular!

...and a fun little movie to see some of the pieces in action!
One more day till Friday!  Can't wait for this weekend!  I am in full party prepping mode, but it's pretty exhausting...  and emotionally draining...

Mama >> OOTD

God knows when I need a little help hitting the brake pedal.  I feel like I can be in the fast lane day in and day out, and even though there are seasons that don't give me a break, it's good to be reminded that there is a slow lane.  Sometimes I need that extra push or that gentle reminder from God to scoot over and just step on the brake.  When He slows my life down, it's normally to a pace I'm not used to.  Oh, but it's good.  It's good to slow down and just be still.

In these moments, when I can breathe and catch up, I am reminded of the simple things that make my heart feel most full and alive.  When I get caught up in the mundane of the every day, I miss out on so much that's good.  Like the sound that their tiny toes make when they pitter patter around the house.  Or the sweet tone in their laughter.  I don't want to miss out on these things.  I don't want to miss out on getting "into" their lives and dreams.  I don't want to miss out on telling Everly that she is the best cook, the best doctor, the best hair dresser, the best artist - I want to encourage her and play with her and simply be there and be still with her.

I don't want to miss the smell, oh that sweet sweet smell of my little boys skin.  Or the way his eyes twinkle and shine when he smiles.  The way his golden blonde hair glistens in the sunlight.  I want to remember these moments, not just let them pass me by.  I want to remember and cherish in the moments when Silas holds me close - when I hold him close.  I want to slow my mind down and get off the to-do list, and just be still with him.

Be still.  Psalm 46:10

Featuring >> SO Awesome

SO Awesome; is Owned by Michigan-based Graphic Designer, Marie-Claire Camp, momma of twin boys, and Montessori enthusiast, who completely nailed it with these amazing products that offer gorgeous, educational, non-toxic, extremely durable card sets designed for how kids play and work. (Marie-Claire made these cards for her twins, Silas and Owen, they're the two little faces in the logo!)

I try to create ways where I can open doors of creativity and imagination play for Everly in her early years.  Since we plan to keep Everly and Silas home in their school years and are leaning towards a Montessori approach for teaching them, we are always on the hunt for educational and hands on items for them.  We are currently entering the Preschool age with Everly and are working on our numbers, colors, shapes, etc. so when I came across SO Awesome, I knew these items would fit perfectly into our everyday, to help her learn, all while adding fun and hands on opportunity for her.  I started out with the Wallet Card Set, Colors & Shapes Wallet Cards, and the GO Wallet Cards - all which have become a big hit in our home.  She loves having her own wallet, where she stores all her money (real and fake), and she is always requesting we play with her Wallet Cards.  She is actually really into learning right now and is a SPONGE, soaking it all in.  We are constantly amazed at how quickly she picks up on things, and these products are right on with helping in her early education and learning development.

If you are looking for some hands on, early educational items for those little hands, these are truly amazing.  Everly could sit and play with them for hours on end.  They are also great teething toys ;)  Silas loves to get his hands and mouth on these cards too!  Which is perfectly fine because the plastic cards are extremely durable and non-toxic for even the smallest children to play with.  These cards are pretty much indestructible!  Need I say more?  :)

Ace & Jig >> SS14 Sneak Peek

This label does not even need an introduction, but I might as well tell you all everything I love about it!
This collection speaks for itself, from their amazing textiles to their unique designs. That is just the beginning. Ace & Jig has, year after year, produced separates that you want wear with everything and dresses that you can wear for that special event, or out to run errands in.
I am just as excited about this spring/summer collection as I have been every other season. Waiting for what seems like an eternity to get my hands on my favorite pieces.
It seems like it doesn't matter who you are or what type of body you have when you slip on an Ace & Jig garment. I feel comfortable, but still snazzy in every piece I own. They fall just right on your body so they aren't too baggy or too tight.  They are so well made and last forever. In this case you get what you pay for, over and over. And over again.
If you have not experienced Ace & Jig yet, take it from us here at Urban Cub and do yourself a favor. Buy something from this amazing collection this Spring!!

This video is AMAZE...

Wear >> Thanksgiving Day Outfits

Thanksgiving is such a fun time of year for my family. It kind of 'kick-starts' the Holidays, and everyone is so happy and cheery! There is just something in the air, that is so nostalgic to me. As much as I do not like the cold air, I accept it during this time. I think the smell of home cooked food, and seeing all the Christmas stuff happening around me is what makes up for the freezing weather. (That and being able to layer cute clothes!) I love being able to drive up to see my parents and have a few 'cooking', 'mouth-stuffing', 'fire building', and a 'relaxing' couple of days with them, right before the Holiday craziness starts. I have always gotten dressed up on the holidays even if we were just hanging out at home. I enjoy going and finding that perfect outfit that will be documented through pictures for everyone to see. I know it is a weird way to connect things, but I remember 'moments in life' from what I wore. For instance I can tell you what I wore on my first day of 7th grade, or what I have worn for the last 4 Thanksgiving dinners. Which is why I work in Fashion, I guess. haha!

I wanted to show you what my family is wearing this year. This was not an easy task though! I bought Scarlett and I a few matching pieces, thinking they would be easy to dress. Ha! I was totally wrong. I don't know if I have a lot on my mind or what, but I just blanked. Which explains why I just went with Black as our neutral color. It was a lot easier to get outfits for three people with black. I know we will be eating a lot, so comfort was definitely a priority. Being comfortable and stylish at the same time, who doesn't want that!

DENIM >> 3 WAYS

How much do you love those favorite pair of jeans? Me too, to the point that some days all I want is to throw on those perfect fitting jeans and that great comfy sweater. But some days you can't wear your favorite sweater and you need a little help putting some outfits together.  So I decided to put together some outfit ideas: Denim 3 ways.

Denim on Denim is such a classy look and it seems to keep coming back into the fashion world every few years. It is such a 'cool' look. I kind of loved making these outfits with my family in mind! I think we could totally get away with it!

This is Denim the second way. One of my favorite looks is Denim over or under something. It just adds that extra 'coolness' to the outfit. Denim could almost be used as an accessory. Plus, who doesn't love a good layered outfit?

Don't know how to wear colored Denim? Here is my Denim the third way. I wanted to purchase it all and make everyone wear it!

Hope this gave you some ideas for some outfits this Fall. I know we will be wearing lots of Denim this season.

Things i'm Loving >> Fall Edition

1.)  Have you guys seen the new Ace & Jig FW13 collection?  I've died over and over.  I want it all.
2.)  I have been following Spearmint Baby blog for years, but just recently Shari launched a shop - Spearmint Love and THIS Eco Cross Blanket is one of the many things on my "wish list" from her shop.
3.)  I'm addicted.  End. Of. Story.  What's your favorite warm, seasonal Starbucks drink?
4.)  "Forever Young" Essie nail polish is my go to Fall color.  I love deep reds for Fall; I feel like it goes with everything.
5.)  I've had this pendant on my Christmas list for the past 3 years!  3 years the charm?  Yes?...  Babe?
6.)  Ever get that feeling of being weary or stressed, maybe more weary then stressed?  This mom of 2 thing is hard sometimes!  Aesop Ginger Flight Therapy is the way to go.  You can apply it directly to your neck, temples, wrists, etc. and it's instant relief.  Instant!
7.)  There's just something about baby feet!!!  I'm obsessed.  Silas is officially 10 weeks old and already escaping that "infant stage", I just can't believe how fast it goes by the second time around!  People will always warn you, but you got to live it to believe it.  I'm a believer.
8.)  Camouflage is everywhere this season!  AND I love it!  The cute flats, that snazzy jacket, those skinny ankle jeans...  You can pair it perfectly with pretty much anything, it's that one print that just looks awesome next to anything!  (Well, almost anything...but be creative and have fun with it!)
9.)  Fall is my all time favorite season of the year!  If it could be Fall all year-round, I would be totally happy with that!  But since it's not, we have to soak it up while we can, so we made a Fall bucket list this year.  We are crossing things off every day!  (I can't wait to share with you all some of the fun firsts Everly's experiencing through this bucket list!)  Do you have a Fall bucket list?  What are some things that you are doing this season?  If you need some Fall bucket list inspirations, just go to Pinterest and search "Fall Bucket List."
10.)  Toms, you never cease to amaze me!  You guys nailed it with the, nepal boots this season!  Well done!  I just can't decide which pair I'm loving the most, because they all are awesome!
