Cold Weather Care >> Skincare for Body

The second edition of Cold Weather Care is for your body. Lotions, Oils, and Potions. I know for myself I love to scout out the best of everything Body Care. I enjoy trying different brands, and "potions". I have very sensitive skin so I have to be careful of what I use. I love natural oils and scents, it seems to be what works best for my skin.
  
Here are some of my picks that I love and use. I use lotion and oils every single day but one that I love and use pretty much every day is just plain Coconut Oil. It is such a great base for lotion too if you like to moisturize like I do! Here is a good little article about coconut oil

Boys Plaid >> On Girls

Do you ever say to yourself, "I wish I had a boy, so I could wear that on him?"  Well I used to say that all the time...then along came Silas.  But even with a little boy, I still fall for things all the time in the boys section that I would love to wear on Everly.  I always think to myself, "can she pull this off?"  Well the answer is, yes, she can!  I'm loving plaid and flannel this season, but i'm having a really hard time finding plaid "for girls", for some reason they only make plaid tops for boys?  Or at least it seems to only be sold in the boys sections.  So I decided to put together a few styles to give us a little inspiration on how "boys plaid" can be worn on your girl.  So, next time you see that plaid top in the boys section...Grab it, because girls can totally rock plaid!

Here are three ways I would style Everly in boys plaid tops:

outfit one:  hat // plaid top // skirt // tights // boots

outfit two:  vest // plaid top // bracelet // leggings // boot moccs

outfit three:  hat // jean jacket // plaid top // scarf // corduroy pants // shoes

Get Cozy >> This Fall


get cozy this fall with a few of my favorites:

1//  wrap yourself and get cozy in this throw!  oh, and this is my absolute favorite fall color.
2//  grab a book, kick your legs up, and get cozy next to this amazing scented barr-co candle, mmmm.... it smells like oatmeal and vanilla.
3//  getting cozy boot socks is a must for fall!  no one wants to be wearing socks that you have to pull up every two seconds or that itch.  these boden socks are so comfy and soft.  take my word and grab some for yourself, the only downside is they need them in more colors and prints.
4//  i'm so in love with this scarf and it's currently on my wish list!  click on the link and check out how cozy and awesome it looks on.
5//  everyone needs a comfy cozy pair of slippers and this minnetonka chrissy bootie is totally the way to go.
6//  chunky knit beanies might be extremely cute on kids, but grab one for yourself this season, because they look pretty rad on mama's too!  get cozy with this knit slouch beanie that comes in various awesome colors!
7//  everyone needs some cozy cashmere in their closet and this poncho is the way to go!  grey goes well with pretty much anything and it's on sale right now!!  can't beat it!
8//  cozy can also come in the form of a card game, staying in for the night, in your pj's.  dutch blitz is my favorite card game by the way, in case you were wondering ;)  
9//  cute and cozy pair of yoyogi park gloves for a night out on the town.
10//  my favorite way to get cozy, is a nice hot bath with burtsbees therapeutic bath crystals.  these are some of my favorite bath crystals(and take it from a bath-takin-junkie!)   i actually feel incredibly refreshed and relaxed after a bath with these and I love the smell.

Scarlett >> Last Days of Summer

As the summer is winding down, we are taking full advantage of it. We have spent so much time outside lately, that it has been hard to come in! We just keep adding that extra layer, which we love!

 Scarlett is getting so good at walking! She loves to walk really fast and then stop. She just cracks up!! I am honestly seeing the world all over again and smiling at the little things. She finds something on the ground and has to grab it. The leaves are new to her, the sticks, peebles, acorns, bugs, everything! She loves to explore and find new things. I love being with her because she is just so content and happy outside. I love being the one to see all her firsts. I feel so happy and lucky to be her mom! So I really couldn't help but share some of my favorite moments with her that I have captured with my phone:

Guest Post >> Style on a Budget

Hi, I'm Jessica, from Tiny Gentlemen, featuring fun boy fashion and dapper style for every little gent!

I am so honored and grateful for the opportunity to guest post on Urban Cub and would like to share some tips for style on a budget. Sometimes I flinch at the high prices of cute clothing that my little guy might not fit next month, and as busy mothers I know we can all appreciate a good steal! Here are some of my favorite places to find the best prices:

Jeans/Shorts

I love H&M jeans because they tend to run big so my son gets more wear and play in them. They have a wide variety of colors and cuts. H&M also has some great picks for suspenders, attached to the jeans and playful cutoff shorts!

Leggings

Get comfortable with Etsy! I look to Etsy for leggings because they each store has a unique style.With all the different stores you can find a steal on the perfect pair. Search for a specific design, color, or fabric, or if you're looking for something organic or hand-stamped, just type in the search! This also helps supports other small businesses!

Shoes

Depending on what shoe you are looking for, I have found that some of the best finds are on Instagram! I am still relatively new to the "shops" on Instagram but so far I have found moccasins for as cheap at $15, Vans for $10, and Toms for $8; all either new with tags or gently used. If I can't find what I'm looking for, I have often been pleasantly surprised by the options at Wal-mart, yes, Wal-mart!

Shirts

My go to for collared button-ups is Target, but I love any fun tee! Keep in mind that on Monday, Target's kid clothing goes on sale. -Every week! (Tuesday is Women's clothing, don't forget!) For tee shirts I'll snag some whimsical prints from the clearance at Children's Place or Old Navy--at $2-$4 a tee it's hard not to buy a couple!

Suit & Tie

Ross and TJ Maxx! Throw your pride out the window and go search for some great deals! Lots of matching sets with vest, shirt, tie and pants, range is anywhere from $8-$16! Or you can check out my other favorite, Black & Bianco. They come with a suit jacket, vest, tie, white shirt and dress pants for as cheap as $20. Fast shipping and great quality! What are some of your favorite places to shop on a budget? Of course, finding great deals takes some digging, but it's definitely worth it. With this broad idea of where to find some great steals, here is an idea of a boy's outfit for less than $25!

Penguins >> For the Littles


Penguins are huge right now and quite frankly, I'm loving it...Really loving it!  You can put penguins on anything and it would be cute.  And a bonus, most penguin printed clothing and accessories are gender neutral, which is the way to go.  I love dressing Everly and Silas in gender neutral clothes, so I gave in and had to get a few of my favorites that are listed below...

You really can't go wrong with printing wild life on children items.  I'm loving the other fads that are "in" right now too; foxes, deer, bears, wild cats...

Cold Weather Care >> SkinCare for Face

When the colder weather starts, my skin seems to do exactly what the weather does. It goes dull, it dries out, and doesn't get enough Vitamin D. I feel like I have tried just about everything to get my skin through the winter, so I have decided to share my wisdom. I will be doing a 4 week series for all of our skin needs, plus one for the kiddos. This week I am going to share my secret, not so secret, regiment for my face. I hope that you find something that will save your skin from the cold.

DENIM >> 3 WAYS

How much do you love those favorite pair of jeans? Me too, to the point that some days all I want is to throw on those perfect fitting jeans and that great comfy sweater. But some days you can't wear your favorite sweater and you need a little help putting some outfits together.  So I decided to put together some outfit ideas: Denim 3 ways. 

Denim on Denim is such a classy look and it seems to keep coming back into the fashion world every few years. It is such a 'cool' look. I kind of loved making these outfits with my family in mind! I think we could totally get away with it!

This is Denim the second way. One of my favorite looks is Denim over or under something. It just adds that extra 'coolness' to the outfit. Denim could almost be used as an accessory. Plus, who doesn't love a good layered outfit?

Fall >> Bucket List

This is my first year as a mom with a little one that is old enough to enjoy things for herself and make memories.  Everly will be 2, November 1st and she is pretty much fully talking and always asking us questions and constantly asking us to do things.  All through-out the month of October we have been doing fun Fall activities with Everly (and Silas), things that we hope they will enjoy and remember.  We created a Fall Bucket List and Everly is having a blast crossing things off the list.  Here are a few (okay, a lot!) pictures of our Fall so far!

That's a wrap of our Fall so far.  Lots of memories in the making and being made every day.  This is such a fun season, and it's been even more fun watching my babies do things for the very first time.
